Color Flash Cards for FREE

Are you trying to teach your little one their colors?
Here is something you can do without having to buy flash cards.

Not only can you get them for FREE but you can actually choose the color shade (dark, light, lighter) and so.

How you may ask?

You can pick them up (flash cards) for FREE at your local paint store or in the paint department.

That's right for FREE!
Yay!
These are the shades I picked up for my little guy.

Another great thing about these are the simple fact their is nothing else on them, no pictures to distract your child or anything else.
Also if one gets torn, loss or ruined. All you have to do is remember which one needs to be replaced on your next shopping excursion.

Review of Easy Peasy Homeschool Blog

32facd66263a6b89bafe5d0724e79687

This year we have been using Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool for 2 of my children. Easy Peasy has many things available for kids Pr-K through High-school. Before I started my kids on Easy Peasy, I played around and looked at everything. I checked out several things. The one thing you will need to have with this program is a computer for every child. Now I'm kinda picky at times when it come to schooling because I know where my kids are at and what they need to improve on. Easy Peasy has most of everything I liked or wanted.

So here they are. My Likes
  • They have grades getting ready 1 "Pre-K level 1 and getting ready 2 "Pre-K level 2. I love this because your child can go through not just one year of Pre-K but 2 years. It's great also because there is only a few things your child has to do every day.
  • Towards the end of Getting ready 2 your child gets to use an online McGuffey Reader. Check out my review of the McGuffey reader HERE.
  • She offers the basics in the grade level you pick on the sidebar - Math, Reading Comprehension, Writing and with each grade she adds on NEW things.
  • If you want to add to your child's curriculum with more things than what is in the grade level. You will have to go over to the sidebar on the right and look for individual courses. 1st grade - 12th Grade is available for most of them.
  • I love that Phonics plays a huge roll in the curriculum. My eldest child is 5 and has started to read. We are using Level 1 of her homeschool program.
  • I love the directions that are on here. They are well written for a child to understand and follow through.
  • The program she has on here is made to be really easy for a child to sit down once they can read and "Just Do School". Making it easier for you to help the younger ones.
  • Oh did I forget to mention? It is ALL FREE
My Dislikes Even though I can be picky I really don't have that many dislikes. So here are the ones I do have.
  • If you are unfamiliar with the site you will probably think that, all there is to do for your child is what is available under the grade level your child is now in. It would be easier to do things if Bible History, Art and the other topics were linked into the grade level as extra curricular activities.
  • I like most of what she has for videos to watch or books to read. But I add to it. I don't like the handwriting pages she has on there. I usually print them off from another website. Click HERE for those.
  • There isn't anything for Character building - And well I need those. If you want to add Character building skills to your curriculum Click here.
I hope you go and check out her Blog! It really is fantastic and it has many other awesome things about it. Including Science, Foreign language "Spanish" Art, Bible, history, music, thinking skills "Logic" and even more. My kids are loving it and it was a God send. It was just what I was looking for on a very tight budget. Even if you have already bought your curriculum for the year. I would recommend giving Easy Peasy a try. If you do use her homeschool material and would like to thank her for putting it all together you can "donate money by clicking here".

Free Printable Upper Case and Lower Case Color Sheets

Since we homeschool, I'm all about finding things to do with my kids that are simple and easy; and don't have a lot of things to look at, or sidetrack them from what they need to focus on. In our household we have a little saying "less is more." So today I'm going to offer 2 of the printables that I created for my preschool aged child. They are simple and you can do so many different things with them. Such as have your child color them as they are, decorate them, paint them with finger paint, create animals or objects out of them and so much more.
Here is The first FREE lowercase letter printable - Feel free to copy and share with as many people as you would like. I also included extra versions of letters "a, q, t & y depending on what version of the letter you want to teach your child.

Have fun teaching review

600610_10151824790070537_1546498965_n

In our recent journey of homeschooling I came across these awesome YouTube videos by Have Fun Teaching. They go through the entire alphabet first as the song and then each letter individually.
They also have songs that count by 1's, 2's, 3's and so on.
So here are my thoughts on these songs and what you can expect.

Have+Fun+Teaching+Album

My Likes
Each song is upbeat. The pictures in the video change often enough to keep a child's attention. I love the letter songs because he has your child draw the letter in the air. He goes through the sounds that each letter makes. He uses words to tell a short story that use that current letter or vowel sound. Number songs are a little slower but start to get faster. The videos rang from preschool to 3rd or 4th grade level. The numbers and letters get flashed multiple times to make sure your child sees it

My Dislikes
I will be honest at this moment I don't really have any. My kids love them and they can't wait to watch them every day.

Here are a few of the type of songs that they offer on YouTube.

You can find even more resources at http://havefunteaching.com/

They have FREE materials you can print off even Including worksheets for reading comprehension, Practice math tests, Printable flashcards and so much more.

McGuffey's Primer - FREE

mcguffeyfirst

Yep you saw it here first the McGuffey's Primer is FREE to read online. I love it! Here is my short little review. Yes it does have it's up and downs.
I use the "read on-line" feature because it offers a few unique things.

My likes
  • You can zoom in and out depending on how far away your computer screen is compared to where your child is sitting.
  • There are 8 ways you can read it. Plus you can send it to your kindle.
  • You open the reader in a one page format, two page format or all page format.
  • It's FREE
  • I love the layout of the primer. It literally looks the same, except there is no way your child can rip pages. Yeah!
My Dislikes
  • If you don't hit the pause button right away on the Primer it will keep turning the pages
  • You can turn the audio on and it will read it to your child, however it is really choppy and the computer voice is a bit on the annoying side.
Fun facts about the McGuffey's Readers
The McGuffey's first primer is great for children ages 3 all the way up and through adulthood that are learning how to read. This might surprise you but over 120 million copies were sold between 1836 and 1960. Since then about 30,000 copies are sold every year. No other text-book bearing one persons name has ever come close to selling that many.
If you would like purchase your own set click the links below. If you would like to purchase the McGuffey's First Primer click here. If you would like to purchase the full complete set Click here.
Did you ever use a McGuffey when you were younger? Do you own your own or plan on using them with your child/ren for school?
