McGuffey's Primer - FREE

mcguffeyfirst

Yep you saw it here first the McGuffey's Primer is FREE to read online. I love it! Here is my short little review. Yes it does have it's up and downs.
I use the "read on-line" feature because it offers a few unique things.

My likes
  • You can zoom in and out depending on how far away your computer screen is compared to where your child is sitting.
  • There are 8 ways you can read it. Plus you can send it to your kindle.
  • You open the reader in a one page format, two page format or all page format.
  • It's FREE
  • I love the layout of the primer. It literally looks the same, except there is no way your child can rip pages. Yeah!
My Dislikes
  • If you don't hit the pause button right away on the Primer it will keep turning the pages
  • You can turn the audio on and it will read it to your child, however it is really choppy and the computer voice is a bit on the annoying side.
Fun facts about the McGuffey's Readers
The McGuffey's first primer is great for children ages 3 all the way up and through adulthood that are learning how to read. This might surprise you but over 120 million copies were sold between 1836 and 1960. Since then about 30,000 copies are sold every year. No other text-book bearing one persons name has ever come close to selling that many.

Did you ever use a McGuffey when you were younger? Do you own your own or plan on using them with your child/ren for school?
